Energy vampire
I had an encounter with an energy vampire today, but it wasn't a person. It was a place.
I needed to get some Asian grocery items for my plan to cook two weeks' worth of Indonesian food, so we went to the nearest Asian supermarket, which was in our old hometown, some 40 minute drive away from our current residence. It had been a while (as in years) since the last time I went to that supermarket. The place was smaller than I remembered it to be, and the way they organized the goods just didn't make sense.
You'd think that they'd put all the instant noodles in one aisle that's dedicated to instant noodles, but nope. There were at least three aisles with instant noodles mixed with other stuff. There were no signs indicating what could be found in each aisle. It was so confusing. It took forever just to find the spice section. The disorganization really drained my energy, more than the actual walking around trying to find the stuff I needed. It was like doing a treasure hunt, but without the fun part. I hated it so much. I left the place feeling so exhausted.
I really hope I wouldn't have the need to go back there again, like, ever. There are other Asian supermarkets that I'd rather go to, but, unfortunately, they're all quite a bit of a drive. Going to any of them on a week day evening just isn't going to happen. That's why we usually do our Asian grocery shopping on a weekend. Today was more of an emergency shopping.
You could call the Asian supermarket I went to today my Kryptonite. Or, better still, Colin Robinson. (If you know, you know.)
